A collaboration between Robot Done Quick teams: Week 6, 12th Hour, and Oryon; Everybot; and FRC teams: 1477 Texas Torque and 3847 Spectrum, The Week Negative Six Event is an FRC build season event aimed at showcasing match play with fully functional alliances 6 weeks before official FRC robots hit the field.

Week Negative Six began as the MCCC (Minimum Competitive Concept Competition) in 2018. After positive feedback on this hastily organized event, the parties involved began working to improve this unique concept and prepare for a successful sequel.

  • Provide a basic level of insight into how the new FRC game will be played on a full sized field with 6 functioning robots.
  • Showcase potentially viable robot designs
  • Demonstrate potentially viable strategies based on an extremely abbreviated strategic design process
  • Illustrate the scale and congestion of the field when full of robots, i.e. scoring elements, game pieces, passageways, etc.
  • Bring to light as many game insights as possible that would otherwise not be realized until Week 0 or Week 1 events
  • Influence teams to make strategic decisions based solely on the event and without further consideration
  • Convince teams that any particular robot design is any more or less viable than others, especially given the short build timetable and resources of the teams competing
  • Create false notions that those alliance roles demonstrated by the teams participating in this event are in any way rigid or required in order to succeed in this year's game
